Stories about Grand Children

*Angels and Monsters at Halloween*

Jack O' Lantern This weekend it is Halloween here in Sweden. And just as in other parts of our world there will be all sorts of terrible monsters banging the door asking *Trick or treat?*

Trick O' Treater I am slowly getting used to this, since it is rather new for us. Itīs been more and more popular to do as in USA but only for the past 10 years or so.

When my children were small and growing up, we didnīt have it. Oh we have a special weekend, always the first weekend in Nov. but the Swedish word for it is *Alla helgons Dag*. ( All Saints Day, sort of). It has nothing to do with monsters. It is a Christian weekend, going to church, looking after family graves, making sure the winter decorations are there and to light a special candle in memory of our loved ones to last over the weekend.

Now time have changed and my grandkids are very much in for the American Halloween. They have their special masks ready for tomorrow, when there will be a Halloween party at daycare. They practiced on me earlier today and yes, they did look horrible enough.

So you can imagine the conflict between the new Halloween and Alla Helgons Dag. Most children loves it but older generations are not that thrilled about it. I canīt say I blame them. The tricks can get really ugly if you miss to open the door for the monsters. Itīs not that nice to find the frontdoor repainted with mudd, or broken eggs inside on the floor. Most frontdoors have that little opening for the mail in the middle and itīs very popular to put things in that way. My son got home from work at Halloween a year ago, opened the door and step right into wet leaves and mudd, on the inside. Lucky he didnīt catch the monsters that did it.

Toilet Paper House Well, I will try to be ready for them. At least I will have sweets waiting so I can answer "treat". Hopefully our dog wont find it or our little grand daughter. She is not going to be a monster. How could she when sheīs an angel. Right now she is Grandpaīs angel. Just look!

Where ever he goes, she follows. Sheīs not leaving him for a second. Grandpa must help her with everything and they always take a nap together too. Her oldest brother Marcus was like that too, in a way he still is. Grandpa is the hero. But when it comes to looking at Spiderman Posters from Allposter, I winn. Or when they get really sad, after a fall or something. Then I am almost as their Mum I suppose, nice to get hugs from.

An Angel and 2 Monsters will be part of our Halloween. We will miss the other 2 boys, Dennis and his baby brother Tobias. They are always visiting Greatgrandma this weekend.
