Well, the first morning is a little special.
Itīs hot and if that didnīt wake you up,
the rooster will,thatīs for sure.
Get used to that, you will hear him
every morning since most hotels
have their own chicken yard for
fresh breakfast eggs.
You will soon notice that the rooster have
many friends to call upon.
When one starts, the others will answer.
On the other hand there is nothing better then
going down to the local store around the corner,
getting bread so fresh it is still warm, and
fresh eggs for your first breakfast.
If you want to be lazy there will be breakfast
served at the snackbar too.
Both Continental and English,your choice.
I always bring my own coffee with me,to have in the apartment,
but the nescafé you get everywhere is ok.
After breakfast the cleaninglady will be on her way and it is time to go to the
pool,
or to the beach.Be careful however the first day, donīt stay in the sun for too
long,
try to find shadow.Itīs very easy to get burned.
Ask the locals, they will tell you never to stay exposed for more then 15 minutes.
Donīt forget protection either.
You will get a very nice tan from staying in the shadow.Trust me!
Another thing that is very important is to drink a lot of water.
You need to buy big bottles to have in your room, and always remember to have a small with you on the beach or if you go for a walk.
It will be very hot weather during the summer season and it is not cooling off in the evenings.
For me, living in a cold country like Sweden, that was very odd.The fact that
it got even
warmer in the evenings and nights.Really strange :-)
It has to do with the traffic increasing every evening.
So donīt wait for fresh air after sunset. There is none.
Only early mornings just before the sun reaches over the roofs
you might catch a small breeze coming from the sea. If youīre lucky :-)
Well, before you know it,itīs time for lunch.
Itīs amazing how hungry you get from doing nothing. And when the smell
reaches you from all snackbars, you wont be able to resist.
A Greek Sallad,a Greek Hamburger or an Omelett(with ham),that is just perfect.
Or why not try the Moussaka, that is so nice.
There might be a siesta between 15-17 oīclock and it is a wise thing to
take a nap or just lay down reading a book or something before getting ready
to
go out in the evening.
The Restaurantes usually start serving dinner around 19,30 and most tourists
have
dinner between 20-22 in the evening. The big rush goes on until 23,00,after
that the Pub life takes over.Belive me, there are just as many Pubs as there
are
restaurantes and most of them are crowded with happy people, having a great time. If you think you will be able to sleep before 3 in the morning, forget that. First there will be all loud music, then all people going home and after that
all locals
going home by bike. There will be a short time of silence before the garbage car sweaps the streets and after that the rooster takes over, waking everybody up to a bright new day :-)
Enjoy your holiday!
